Landmarks will host two great events in June. The first event is on June 13th - the very popular Barnstormers Tour! The tour will focus on barns in the Sugarloaf Mountain region. Volunteers are busy training and learning about the history of each barn so they can give tours of these really wonderful structures! Tickets will go on sale soon.

The second June event is Frontier Day, June 20th, from 10am - 4pm. This is the second year for this growing event! It is a free and educational event on the grounds of Schifferstadt Museum! It may not feel like it, but spring is just around the corner, and that means it's almost time for one of Schifferstadt's most unique events, Frontier Day! Experience hands-on what life was like for the people of Frederick in the 1750’s by learning about and helping with daily frontier tasks. The event will feature reenactors and frontier trades people. Family friendly, educational and free, there is no better way to spend a beautiful spring Saturday! Tours of the house and garden will also be available. Bell and History Day - April 11th

We are excited to present a special exhibit and demonstration about bells on Bell & History Day, April 11, 10am - 4pm.  In addition to tours and learning about the Brunners (the early German settlers who built Schifferstadt), ceramic bells by local, award-winning artist, Cameron Petke, will be on display.  The finishing techniques used mimic the qualities of baked earth and stone quarry walls. Schifferstadt becomes a harmonizing backdrop to the raw and unglazed ceramic surfaces of these magnificent historical symbols. The artist will be demonstrating throughout the day on his wheel. Come explore the significance of bells in our history and the way this artist is creating them today.

ARE YOU READY TO TALK PRESERVATION?

WHEN: Saturday, January 10th, 2PM-3PM:
WHERE:  Frederick Co. Historical Society
  24 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701

We need preserved buildings and landscapes, sustainable communities, walkable towns, and we need them now! With the Maryland General Assembly headed back to session in early January, now is the time to talk about how we can accomplish this and make preservation of our communities a priority.
Preservation isn’t just about where George Washington slept. Preservation is a smart-growth tool that

creates fabulous communities and enhances local economies and small businesses. Preservation is also a green movement, as it encourages the recycling of buildings, rather than costly teardowns. In the end, the greenest building is the one already standing.

Preservation Maryland, the statewide non-profit preservation organization, is coming to Frederick, Maryland to hold a Town Hall workshop on how to get involved in this important process.

When you attend a Town Hall you can expect to:

• Learn about the preservation programs that make a difference – why they are needed and what they have accomplished,
• Find out how to make the case for preservation and more opportunities to get involved,
• Receive training and an advocacy toolkit to help make you an effective preservation advocate.

The Frederick Preservation Town Hall is being co-sponsored by the
